John Overall, Founding Partner at Paley Advisors, is a finance and legal professional with over twenty years of experience building business organizations – from startups to global multinationals.
Based in California, John works closely with company founders, managers, investment bankers and venture capitalists on strategic planning issues in the software, hardware, medical devices, clean/alternative energy and oil & gas sectors.
Previous to Paley Advisors, John served as Senior Advisor to both Westbridge Investments and Carrick Bend Capital, with a specific focus on venture capital and private equity deals. Prior to WestBridge/Carrick Bend, John consulted with numerous startups, including OcuSense, Inc. (medical devices), Code, Inc. (material sciences) and Axium Nanofibers, Inc. (material sciences).
From 1999 to 2005, John held Program Lead and Senior Analyst roles at the Enterprise Computing Division of Hewlett Packard, focusing on global product introductions, consulting services, investments, planning, reporting and warranties. In 1998, John served as an Analyst focused on private placement capital in the North American Operations Group at Acer, Inc. From 1992 to 1994, John served in the Commercial Loan Portfolio Group at Bank of America.

John holds a Bachelor of Political Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration degree and Juris Doctorate degree from Santa Clara University.
